Mayor Reeves joins Galluccio supporters at Everett campaign launch

A city councillor began his third try for a seat in the State Senate July 11 at the Silver Fox Restaurant in Everett.

“Tonight I ask you to elect me to your state senate,” said Anthony D. Galluccio, who in 2000 served at the city's youngest mayor.

“I think this election is about proving what we think politics really is. It’s not a quick handshake, it’s not a quick joke, it’s not the phone call that gets there first. It’s a bond that gets built over time where people become invigorated and renewed with faith,” said Galluccio.

A seat in the State Senate has opened up after Jarrett T. Barrios left to become the president of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation.

Upon arriving, Galluccio walked around the restaurant speaking with everyone who came to support him. After about two hours he took center stage and made his remarks.

Galluccio said his campaign for the seat in the Senate has been going on for two-in-a-half years. There are eight weeks left before the election on Sept. 11, he said. “You made me remember what politics is all about,” Galluccio said to the audience.

“Today, this is the kick off, but guess what folks, were in the eighth inning. This is no kick-off. This is a home stretch rally,” said Galluccio.

Mayor Kenneth E. Reeves, also addressed the crowd and said of his city council colleague, “He will give every ounce of his being to be the best.”

Reeves said, “There is probably noone more tenacious.”
