by Neil W. McCabe

The WCVB-TV reporter, who Feb. 22 broke the City Councilor Anthony D. Galluccio car accident story, refused to discuss how she came about the story today in a phone interview.

"I don't comment on stories that I am still working on," said Janet Wu, a member of Channel 5's political reporting team.

"I am calling you back because I hate it when people don't call me back," she said.

The reporter said would not say if she got the story by sifting through Boston accident reports or whether someone gave her a tip. "This is another area I will not talk about."

Wu said she did not remember if she tried to contact Galluccio about the story before she approached him in City Hall for an interview aired that evening in her initial report.

The city councilor was going down the stairs after a hearing on the contract renewal for City Manager Robert Healy, when Wu met him on the steps with a microphone, lights and rolling camera.

Wu ended the interview when she was asked if anyone helped organize her group interview with other individuals involved in the accident, which she conducted with participants seated in director's chairs at the WCVB studio.
